These two panels were made in my studio in Gardena this past year. I did 100% of the work including the silvering, which was wild. These two panels are imperfect and that’s what makes them good. I have and continue to make to pretty fussy work and sometimes the fight for perfection is worth it. Sometimes it isn’t. Letting go is required some times. The comic book character, Silver Surfer, laments his existential crises while he whips around the galaxy on his board. He looks amazing but his insides are fraught with doubt. Even though he’s an extra-terrestrial, his problems of the id are deeply grounded in the dirt we humans walk on. His battles are present in the studio and in the process of this artwork.
