another in a long suite of maritime images on round supports. this one takes its name from the Adventures of Tintin. Capitaine Haddock (a grumpy and wonderful sea dog drunk), when offered some whiskey, asks for the lightest pour of a serving from the waiter. He says, “ une larme, un soupçon” which translates to: a tear’s worth, a whisper… In the next frame, the glass literally overflowing, he contentedly closes the deal with, “that’ll do, thank you!” I love this passage and grew up on these books - read to me by my father, nightly. The poetry of the language is perfect. Haddock is the bluster and rage, wobbly idiosyncratic force of the sea. Unpredictable, restless and strong. Like the ocean: never still and quiet long. Potential, kinetic. The real thing. My hero.
